Excellent book! - This is an excellent book. The photos are more plentiful than I expected, and they are extremely crisp. The entire book is filled with these great images, along with color plates, and most of the images I have never seen before. There are just a few photo miscaptions, and there aren t really any in-depth unit histories, but overall this book is definitely a must have if you are an armor history enthusiast or a modeller. I do not own the Eastern Front version, but if the Eastern Front book is anything like this book, I will definitely be purchasing that book as well. I am very pleased with the newest edition to my library!
A visual treat - This large page book is a superb reference for people interested in the Tiger 1. Focusing, as the title suggests, on the Western Front and North Africa (there is another version of the book dedicated to the Eastern Front) this book brings together a huge amount of visual reference material on the Tiger.Chapters are divided by the units that used the Tiger 1, discussing deployment, effectiveness and markings/camoflage schemes - backed up with colour illustrations and lots of candid B&W photographs (many I d not seen before) of the Tiger in action and behind the lines, each with highly informative captions. There isn t a page in this book without a photo or illustration on it.Other tanks are mentioned and shown, but this is really the Tiger s party. It s great value for such a heavily illustrated volume, and I strongly recommend it to anyone interested in WW2 military history or AFV modelling.
